GT5 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28

Today's car is the GT5 rendition of the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28.

Wearing a coat of Champagne Gold Metallic (with black racing stripes), it is pictured here parked at Bern - Marktgasse.

The Chevrolet Camaro is a pony car (of which the Mustang was the first) with the pony car looks - typically long hoods, short rear decks.

The first-generation Camaro debuted in 1966 while the Z28 is a sportier version with the 302 engine.

Described by Chevy as a "personal car", the Camaro came as a 2 + 2 coupe or convertible. This one is the coupe.

Styling was changed in the 1970 second-generation Camaro which became a fastback coupe.

GT5 1962 VW Typ 2(T1) Samba Bus

Here is a VW Type 2 bus.

The GT5 1968 Volkswagen Typ2(T1) Samba Bus is pictured here while parked in various spots at Lucerne Chapel Bridge - one of the GT5 photo travel locations.

The Type 2 is an important vehicle in the history of autos; it was built on a modified Type 1  platform (the "bug"). Praised for its versatility and including a camper van version, the vehicle was adopted by the 1960s and 1970s counter-culture.

The Lucerne dude is still here.

Air-cooled and rear-engined (where the vents are).

Engine: air-cooled until 1984.

Performance: top speed of 97 km/h; 0-100 (97) km/h in 75 secs.

This is a splittie - with the split window in front (manufactured 1950-67).

GT5 2007 Ford Mustang V8 GT Coupe Premium

For today's car here is a Ford Mustang -- the GT5 2007 Ford Mustang V8 GT Coup Premium.

Wearing a coat of Performance White, it is parked here in various spots at Red Bull Hangar 7.

The Ford Mustang Series 1 debuted midway through the 1964 model year and sold 1.5 million units within 18 months.

Now it appears that this 2007 Mustang based on the 2005 Mustang is a reincarnation of the Series 1 original, at least that was the intention.

The Series 1 pioneered pony car looks -- long hoods and short rear ends and this Ford Mustang still has that look. In fact, Ford had a strategy to achieve exactly that in 2005 called "Living Legends".

Engine: all aluminum.

The GT trim is the upper grade model with a V8 and an output of 300 bhp.

However, I am not sure that the long hood - short rear end layout is not obsolete in this day and age.

GT5 1968 Fiat 500 F

Last time I wrote on this blog we had this modern Fiat 500 and now here is the original Fiat 500 - a GT5 1968 Fiat 500 F.

Pictured in Avorio Antico, it has made it all the way to Japan and is now parked at Kyoto - Shoren-in.

The original Fiat is also known as the Nuova 500 and was designed by Dante Giacosa.

It is called "Nuova" because it was not created completely from scratch but was based in some ways on the 1936 Topolino.

Produced in several modifications from 1956 until 1975. Resurrected again in 2007.

 Engine: air-cooled, rear-mounted, rear-wheel drive.

Performance: top speed of 95 km/h.

GT5 2008 Fiat 500 1.2 8V Lounge SS

Here is a 2008 Fiat 500 1.2 8V Lounge SS for today in GT5 pictures.

In Bossa Nova White, it is found here at Ahrweiler - Street, one of those photo travel locations in GT5.

The 2007 Fiat 500, on which the pictured version is based, is the third generation of the Fiat 500 but there was a huge gap between the 2nd generation (1957-75) and the reborn (2007) 3rd generation - the gap of 1975-2007.

As pictured, the 2008 Fiat 500 1.2 8V Lounge SS is a sportier and more upscale version of the base car, and SS stands for something sporty and not for Schutzstaff... whatever.

And the steering wheel is again on the wrong side, although there probably were right-hand drive versions but they were hardly definitive.

It didn't make much of an impact sales-wise here in Russia as it was seen as too expensive.

I have seen only one or two or three of these since 2007.

GT5 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GTS

The GT5 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GTS is today's car.

Wearing a coat of many colors Steel Blue Pearl and black (roof), it is doing its thing at London.

Not a premium car in the game.

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GTS is a soft roof convertible and is one of the models of the base 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse coupe.

Although Japanese, the car was designed and built by a Mitsu-Chrysler JV with the North American market in mind and had its Chrysler counterparts in the 2003-05 Chrysler Sebring coupe and the 2001 Dodge Stratus coupe. But the Mitsubishi version looks way better.

The 2003 Spyder GTS model (pictured here) was the top trim coming standard with leather seats, side airbags, ABS and a bunch of other amenities.

I still see 3rd-gen Mitsubishi Eclipse coupes here in Moscow. In fact, I saw one yesterday and I saw another one today -- that's how often.
