GT5 2009 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren

Here is GT5's 2009 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren (19-inch Wheel Option).

Pictured in Crystal Laurit Silver and parked at Ahrweiler Gate.

First manufactured in 2003, production ended in 2009.

Mercedes-Benz has claimed that the SLR McLaren is a limited edition of just 3,500 cars.

It uses carbon fiber everywhere except the engine bay which is aluminum.

That's a long carbon monocoque body!

GT5 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T

Today's vehicle is another pony car, the GT5 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T (and the GT6 1970 Dodge Challenger R/N is here).

In Hemi-Orange, it is parked here at Ahrweiler Gate, one of the GT5 photo travel locations.

Although a pony car too, the first-gen Dodge Challenger was late to the pony car party started by the Ford Mustang and joined by the Camaro and Pontiac Firebird some two years earlier. It was also the shortest lived pony car in its original form. Yet it was probably the most potent of all pony cars with a choice of eight engines, two body styles and endless option packs.

The 1970 Challenger is the cream of the crop closely followed by the 1971 Challenger (so they write and I read somewhere). The 73- and 74 Challengers? Not so good.

The R/T was the top performance model, with R/T standing for Road/Track.

The first-gen Dodge Challenger was discontinued after the 1974 model year.

By the way, the second generation Dodge Challenger was a completely different eighties car - the Mitsubishi Gallant Lambda with the Dodge badge. I wonder if I can find it in GT5 or 6. If I do I'll make some pictures.

GT5 2007 Blitz Dunlop ER34 Skyline

Today is another (heavily) tuned car, a 2007 Blitz Dunlop ER34 Skyline based on the Nissan Skyline ER 34.

The Blitz Dunlop ER 34 Skyline was built by Blitz, a Japan-based car tuner, unusually choosing a 4-door Nissan Skyline ER 34 saloon as the base car.

I believe this is the Blitz Japan website.

The Blitz Skyline ER 34 competed in D1 Grand Prix (all-Japan Professional Drift Competition) piloted by Ken "Nomuken" Nomura.

This 2007 model (pictured) had a major engine upgrade producing 572 BHP.

 

I think Nomuken managed to win something in it, 4 doors and all.

GT5 Spoon CR-Z

Now featuring a Spoon CR-Z.

Here it is pictured at Ahrweiler - Gate in Championship White.

The Spoon CR-Z is the 2010 Honda CR-Z tuned by Spoon. 

The Honda CR-Z is sometimes described as the world's first hybrid sports car. And Spoon is a Honda tuning specialist shop (and affiliated ? European website here).

Spoon didn't modify the 1496 cc SOHC 4 valve i-VTEC 4 cylinder but they did disassemble it down to the very last bolt and then rebuilt and rebalanced it.

Weight was reduced too.
