GT5 2001 VW Golf IV GTI

For today's car here is the GT5 2001 Volkswagen Golf IV GTI.

Painted Candyweiss and parked at Kyoto - Gion, this is the fourth-generation Golf.

Of course, there is nothing much to feast your eye on with this one but I still made these pictures for the sake of completion, not being a fan of the Golf, never owning, never driving one and never even riding in one as a passenger.

But of course the Golf -- especially the first-gen VW Golf -- is an important car in the history of the automobile, the first true "hot hatch", you can read all about it on the internet.

On the other hand, GT5 does not have a Premium rendition of the first-gen Golf.

Interestingly, nobody really knows what the letters "GTI" actually stand for in the case of the VW Golf.

Typically GTI means "gran turismo-injection" in auto speak but here these three letters have nothing to do with "injection" as they were used in the first generation Golf when it still was a carburetor unit and also the description "gran turismo" (aka "grand tourer car") can hardly apply to the Golf especially in its earlier generations.
