1999 Honda INSIGHT

A Honda INSIGHT '99 to start things off on this blog.

 In Grand Prix White.

This car was meant to fight the first-gen Toyota Prius introduced in 1997 and was more of a hybrid sports car than a hybrid passenger car (the Prius).

Ultimately it failed though because the buying public wasn't ready.

Rear skirted wheels too... for added aerodynamics, no doubt.

The 1st Gen 1999 Honda Insight was introduced in Japan in November 1999 as the first production vehicle to feature Honda's Integrated Motor Assist system. In the following month, December 1999, Insight became the first hybrid available in North America, followed seven months later by the Toyota Prius

Race photos.

I used it to win the electric car races challenge in National A.

Had to buy and install some upgrades, not too many though, because the 2009 Toyota Prius and even the Nissan Leaf are faster stock.

This early Prius is no problem, it's the 2009 (and later) version that is harder to beat.

The battle of two Insights (and one Prius).
