GT5 2009 Pagani Zonda R

What a car today - the 2009 Pagani Zonda R in my GT5 pictures.

Pictured here at the GT photo travel location called Ahrweiler - Street, somewhere in Germany, I believe.

Zonda is actually the name of an Argentinian pampas wind which is apparently fast.

Inspired by fighter-plane materials technology, Pagani set out some decades ago to build exclusive cars out of carbon-fibre composite.

Way I (don't) understand it, this 2009 Pagani Zonda R is based on the 2007 Pagani Zonda track car. There was a very limited road car version based on the same called the Pagani Zonda Cinque, only five units. But the Zonda marque was first started at the 1999 Geneva Motor Show.

This is not just carbon fiber but carbon-titanium fiber.

GT5 2007 Ferrari 430 Scuderia

Today's car for you delectation view-able in my GT5 pictures is the Ferrari 430 Scuderia.

Wearing a coat of Bianco Avus (aka white), it is pictured here once again at Siena - Piazza del Campo.

Way I understand it, the 2007 Ferrari 430 Scuderia is a souped up version of the base F430 coupe, itself a high performance version of Ferrari's V8 cars. But there is also the 2005 Ferrari 430 Spider which is a retractable roof roadster.

The body shape may have been refined "with the aid of the ultra-sophisticated computer simulations used to fine-tune the Scuderia's winning Grand Prix cars".

But it's still Pininfarina.

GT5 2008 Honda Civic Type R

Today's GT5 car pictures are of the 2008 Honda Civic Type R and not for the first time, see list of cars in the right-hand panel on this blog.

Painted Super Platinum Metallic and parked here at San Galgano Abbey which is one of the Italian photo travel locations in GT5.

In his book What Not to Drive, writing about the immediate prior version of this car, Richard Hammond (of the former Top Gear infamy) specifically lists this car as one of those not to drive... for senior citizens complaining of a "bone-crashingly hard ride and a noisy cabin".

GT5 2006 Honda Takata Dome NSX

Here is a Takata-sponsored car from 2006. How the mighty have fallen since...

In green and white, it is parked here at San Gimignano - Town Square, one of the Italian photo travel locations in GT5.

Of course, this competition car is based on the Honda NSX.

The Takata Dome NSX was run by Team Honda Racing led by team manager Takuya Nakamura and competed in the 2006 Super GT in Japan.

The car won round 2 at Okayama and placed second in round 8 as well as finished 3rd in the drivers rankings with only  a 4 point difference from first place.

Takata...

The Takata name is not so proud anymore, is it? Not as despised as Volkswagen's (dieselgate) but still pretty close.

The car looks good though.
